The LA Marathon 5K Run/Walk offers a full morning of fitness and family fun with a great entertainment line-up.  

 

Beginning at 6am, Adai Lamar, anchor of  102.3 “Radio Free” KJLH’s “The Guy Black” morning showtakes the stage to guide participants through the morning’s activities.  Musical entertainment by 50’s-present day cover band, the Grizwalds, gets the runners amped.  A warm up, led by certified yoga instructor, Crunch trainer and fitness guru, Sahara Ali, gets all the runners ready for the race and features an all-new, hoola-hoop workout.  This hot, new exercise craze fad gained Sahara national attention when it was featured on MTV.  Def Jam recording artist Samantha Jade will sing the national anthem.

 

Registrations for the 5K Run/Walk are accepted online (www.lamarathon.com) or via paper applications through February 15, 2009.  Late registration for the 5K takes place at the Quality of Life Expo, Friday and Saturday February 27 & 28, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, West Hall and the morning of the event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at 39th and Figueroa.  Registration on race day, Sunday, March 1st opens at 6 am.

Turn by Turn Course Directions

Start:  just south of 39th street on Figueroa at right turn cutaway

Proceed south on Figueroa to MLKEast on MLK to Central Ave.

Turnaround on Central Ave.

West on MLK to Figueroa

North on Figueroa to finish approximately 200 feet south of 39th street cutaway.

 

PARKING FOR THE LA MARATHON 5K RUN/WALK:

Parking for the LA Marathon 5K Run/Walk is Lot 6 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, 3939 S. Figueroa, Los Angeles, CA  90015.  Secondary parking is at the USC campus.  The following directions are the only access routes to the LA Sports Arena due to street closures for the Los Angeles Marathon and Acura L.A. Bike Tour:
 
-Long Beach/Orange County: Primary parking: 110 Fwy. North, exit Vernon Ave.  Take Vernon west to Hoover. North on Hoover, cross Martin Luther King Blvd. to Lot 6.  Secondary parking:  110 North, exit Exposition.  Take Exposition west to USC and follow directions for parking.
 
-Pasadena/San Fernando: Primary parking: 110 Fwy. South, exit Vernon.  Take Vernon west to Hoover St.  North on Hoover, cross Martin Luther King Blvd. to Lot 6.  Secondary parking:  110 Fwy South, exit Exposition.  West on Exposition to USC and follow directions for parking.
 
-San Bernardino/East Side: Primary parking: 10 Fwy. West to 110 Fwy South, exit Vernon Ave.  Take Vernon west to Hoover St.  North on Hoover, cross Martin Luther King Blvd. to Lot 6.  Secondary parking:  110 North, exit Exposition.  Take Exposition west to USC and follow directions for parking.
 
-Santa Monica: Primary parking: Take the 10 Fwy. East to 110 Fwy South exit Vernon Ave.  Take Vernon west to Hoover St. North on Hoover, cross Martin Luther King Blvd. to Lot 6.  Secondary parking:  110 North, exit Exposition.  Take Exposition west to USC and follow directions for parking.
