Greetings Friends of the LA Bike Tour: In an effort to ensure a world-class experience, we’ve decided that the 2010 LA Bike Tour will not be held Marathon morning, as it historically has been. We’ll share further details once they’re available and look forward to hosting a great bike event later next year.

Please reinstate the Bike Tour
Wondering what’s going on behind the scenes on this decision. I was looking forward to biking this route, and wondering how a ‘world-class experience was NOT ensured in past years’? If bikers were colliding with runners, couldn’t the start times be spaced even further apart? Or are there new concerns with this new route for biking safety? Thanks…
Hello folks. The Pasadena Marathon will have a bike tour on February 21, 2010. Sign up at http://www.pasadenamarathon.org.
NO! PLEASE put the bike tour on the same date as the marathon. You are ruining a family tradition we have had for the last 5 years. The bike tour IS part of the LA Marathon experience. The sum of the LA Marathon and the bike tour is greater than each part. The event will be bigger, stronger, and better if you keep both together. If it is too late for this year, please put them back together for future years. It is a shame to split them up.
Will really miss the bike tour. I found an old friend on http://www.yoname.com and we rode the tour together last year. It was great. Bring it back
… please.
Oh NO!! the bike route is a great part of the marathon experience!! Please put it back!!
One of the great things about living in Los Angeles is being able to bike through car-free city streets once yearly. At least 15,000 people can experience this once a year, hopefully on the day of the marathon. If not this year, please bring the bike tour back, it will be missed by many thousands of riders and their extended families.
so sad… why in the world would you separate them
please rethink this … this is the people’s tour … a tour they want
I have ridden 14 of the 15 LA Marathon Bike Tours; I sure hope it can be held in 2010.
Thanks,
Vern
A note to the powers that be…
I have not done the Acura Bike Tour before, but decided this would be the year. I am sad to hear it is disconnected from the Marathon. I was looking forward to riding the same course on the same day as the runners.
The voices here represent, I’m sure, only a fraction of those who want to Bike Tour to remain part of the Marathon tradition. I want the same thing, and I haven’t even ridden it before!
But I would relish any opportunity to bike 26 miles on a closed course through the streets of Los Angeles. If the must take place on a new day, please make sure it is organized thoughtfully and with care, for the sake everyone who feels that they are losing something rare and special.
Thank you for listening,
Ben
Bring back the bike tour on the day of the marathon. Both events are a great way to connect to this wonderful city. Why disrupt city traffic on two different days? Tradition is sometimes good.
Oh, so disappointing to hear. I’m going to miss the Bike Tour, I’d love to see it back next year.
NOOOOOOOO! We have to have the Bike Tour of the LA Marathon! Biking LA is a huge tradition and an amazing experience that unites runners & bikers together! Both groups enjoy the accomplishment, the scenery, the joy of being in our city~~car free!
PLEASE LET US BIKERS EXPERIENCE THE GREATER JOY IN OUR CITY! BRING IT BACK~~~YES, YOU CAN!!
Hey I do this every year with my friends. I am not a runner and love the event. So fun.
PLEASE bring it back. As an LA resident, it is a great time.
Please bring back the ride. This is one of (if not the) biggest true family/community events in Los Angeles. The ride inspired me to run the Marathon, as I’m sure it has for many people. Was really looking forward to the awesome new route!
Honda/Acura, I’m sure if the options no ride or paying a higher entry fee, most riders would opt for the latter.
It is a shame that this Bike race won’t be held in 2010. It has become a tradition amongst me and my friends to reconnect and ride the city streets once a year , and the Bike Race was the only thing that made this a reality.
Duringthe last bike race, I rode my bike while my wife ran the marathon. It was great to see how alot of the cyclists stuck around to cheer the incoming runners. It made the event seem like a large family event. The absence of the Bike Race will truely be felt on race day.
Not having the Bike Race is like having thanksgiving dinner by yourself. Sure you can, but its not the same as having family and friends participate.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE BIKE RACE!!!
Boo! I’m so sad!! It was such a great community event!! Many of want it back, please reconsider
Too bad… i was looking forward to do it this year for the 9th. year in a row…my kids were looking forward to ride in the trailer behind me….
really disappointing news.
The chances of closing down 26 miles of LA City streets again are slim to none, so please explain what you mean by ensuring “a world-class experience.”
As corny as this may sound, I am very sad about the change made. I was very much looking forward to this day, and in fact have been training for months for the big day. Now what? Sure my leg’s got some great mileage, however it is not fun if I don’t compete and have a mission behind why I do..it makes it so much more EXCITING and I am sure many if not all of you agree with me…so Please bring it back! Please. Please. I don’t think I’ve ever begged this much, but seriously PLEASE.
