Yesterday I made time to attend the Track Club LA party in Pacific Palisades. This is a tremendous group of fast runners. Although I regularly get lapped by many of them at our weekly track workouts, I’m typically having so much fun that I don’t seem to care. Graciously hosted by Eric Barron, his wife Wenise and their daughter Violet, I was able to speak briefly about Marathon week and some of the exciting things going on this year. I find it so productive to be out speaking with runners face-to-face about the LA Marathon, and I invariably pick up some ideas based on their input. I’m personally really excited to cheer on some of the TCLA athletes on race day: Bert Whitson (he of the now-famous LA Marathon course video) is shooting for a 2:40, Mike Davies (winner of last month’s Pasadena Marathon) will be looking to go low-2:30s, and Ginna Ladd is gunning for her first sub-3:00 time. Good luck to all of you, and thanks for hosting me!
