Course

It has been said that the best marathons reflect the character of a city. Such is the case for the City of Los Angeles Marathon. Though the course has been modified through the years to make it flatter and faster, it has always run through the multi-cultural heart of the city. Given that the race takes place in the entertainment capital of the world, it also offers more on-course live performances than any marathon in the world. Through the years, we have heard from so many people who have found the Marathon an extraordinary way to "Discover L.A." and who have shared with us some of their lasting impressions:

  • The feel of the booming drums of Japanese Taiko drummers near the start line
  • The sound of Randy Newman singing "I Love L.A." on the start line and gospel singers on Vermont Avenue
  • The strong support of over one million spectators who offer personal words of encouragement to participants wearing personalized bibs - an L.A. Marathon innovation.
  • The opportunity to experience the historic African American districts of Leimert Park and Crenshaw.
  • Intersecting with the border of Beverly Hills before heading through the lavish homes on Rossmore, where neighbors have been known to provide food and drink to marathon participants.
  • And being awestruck by the majesty of the downtown corridor of high rises, where the race starts and finishes.

Of course, when you embark on your own 26.2 mile journey of discovery, you will see L.A. as you've never seen it before. L.A. is the most diverse city in the world. There is no better way to discover it than on foot. Register now for the City of Los Angeles Marathon.
