Angeleno Heights

Angeleno Heights has the distinction of being the second oldest district in Los Angeles, but is most known for its impressive, Victorian-era houses.

ASICS LA MARATHON: MILE 5

After turning onto Temple St, runners head toward Angeleno Heights where they make a right onto Edgeware Rd and run over the Hollywood Freeway.  A left onto Bellevue Ave has runners pass through an Angeleno Heights neighborhood with a view of the different types of architecture that make up Angeleno Heights.

NEIGHBORHOOD HIGHLIGHTS

Angeleno Heights has served as a backdrop for Hollywood for years because of the number of Victorian-era houses set in picturesque neighborhood.  As one of the first suburbs of Los Angeles, the area was connected to Downtown by cable car and then electric streetcar.  Although mainly known for its Victorian architecture, Craftsman and Bungalow style homes also have a large presence in Angeleno Heights.

CARROLL AVENUE

Carroll Avenue attracts tourists and visitors because it is known as the street with the “Highest Concentration of Victorian Era Residences” in the City of Los Angeles.  The homes on Carroll Ave have been used in motion pictures and for television shows because of how well they have been kept up, and the picturesque setting the street provides.
