FAQ’s

Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about the 2010 Los Angeles Marathon.

REGISTRATION

  • Do you send out confirmation cards? We will mail out confirmation cards to those participants who have not provided an email address. Those who have provided an email address will receive confirmation and bib #’s via email in early March.
  • What is my bib #? Bib #’s will be assigned and sent out to the participants in early March.
  • Do you give refunds if I can’t make the race? Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Is there an age requirement for the 5K or Marathon? No
  • Is there group registration? We do not offer group registration
  • How can I be placed in a corral group? You will need to fax or email proof of a previous sub-3 or sub-4 hour finishing time to 310.271.7202 or info@lamarathon.com
  • Can I run the Los Angeles Marathon without registering? No, all runners without LA Marathon bibs will be directed off the course immediately.

RACE

  • Do you allow iPods/mp3 players? Yes.
  • Do all participants receive finisher medals? All finishers in the Marathon and NPN Stadium 5K will receive medals
  • Are strollers allowed on the course? Yes, we just ask that you start towards the back of the pack for safety reasons.
  • Is the LAM course a certified course? The course has been certified by USA Track & Field and is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
  • Are walkers permitted? Yes, walkers and race walkers are part of the L.A. Marathon. However, walkers are asked to start near the end of the pack to avoid being crowded or bumped by the faster participants. It is suggested that walkers and slower participants consider using a fanny pack that accommodates a water bottle.
  • Is there a time limit to complete the Marathon? No, however streets re-open to traffic at an approximately 13-minute per mile pace. At that time, participants still on the course will be required to move into the curb lane or on to the sidewalk and obey all traffic signals.
  • Are wheelchair participants permitted? Yes, there is a separate wheelchair division.
  • Are skates, skateboards, bikes or carriages of any kind allowed on the LA Marathon course? No, if you are caught on the Marathon course with any of these, you will be directed off the course immediately.

COURSE SUPPORT

  • How many water stations will have sports drink? 12 stations – every odd mile starting at Mile 3
  • When will the finish line close and stop timing? 8 hours after the race start
  • Will there be food provided along the course? There will be water at 25 locations along the course (approximately at each mile) and a sports drink at 12 stations (every odd mile starting at mile 3).
  • How many clocks on the course? 25, one at every mile except Mile 26.

PACKET PICK UP

  • Do you have race day packet pick up? We DO NOT have race day packet pick up for the LA Marathon. The NPN LA Marathon 5K is the only event that will have race day pick up.
  • Where/when do I pick up my packet? Race packets must be picked up at Dodger Stadium on Friday, March 19th from 11am-8pm or Saturday, March 20th from 9am-5pm. There will be NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP for the LA Marathon. The NPN LA Marathon 5K will have packet pick up near the start of the race on race day.

  • How can I purchase photos from previous years marathon? Photos were taken by Marathon Foto and can be found on their website, www.marathonfoto.com.
  • How do I volunteer for the Los Angeles Marathon? Visit the Los Angeles Marathon website and click on the “Volunteer” tab under the “Race” section of the homepage… or send an email to info@lamarathon.com with all your contact information and the area where you would like to volunteer…or call 310-271-7200.
