Hongo Taiko School

For more than 20 years, Los Angeles Matsuri Taiko, a premier Japanese taiko drum ensemble, has supported runners near Mile 4 next to Disney Concert Hall. They seek to raise the level of intensity and enjoyment of taiko for themselves, as well as the audience, by striving for a high level of group unity. They are dedicated to the advancement of the art of taiko drumming with a deep respect of traditional Japanese culture and spirit. The Japanese taiko drum ensemble has been a staple of the marathon and is well-loved by its runners.

What started out as a hot dog cart in the Crenshaw Santa Barbara Plaza has evolved into a thriving restaurant and successful catering business in the heart of the Crenshaw district at Jack’s Chili Factory. They offer hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, tamales, Jamaican patties, chicken wings, ol’ school coffee cakes, vegan & veggie fare and much more.

The Finish Line of the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon is located at the intersection of Ocean Ave and California Ave. Spectators are encouraged to  cheer on their runner as they get to the finish, but please note the following NEW security enhancements.

Palisades Park: New this year, spectators will NOT be allowed access into Palisades Park south of Washington Ave and north of Santa Monica Blvd.  Any spectators wishing to meet up with runners must head south on 2nd St. to Santa Monica Blvd.  We recommend spectators meet up with runners in the Family Reunion Area on Ocean Ave between Santa Monica Blvd and Broadway Ave.

Secured Event Zone: Also new this year, a Secured Event Zone will be created on Ocean Ave from Santa Monica Blvd to Colorado St.  There will be three designated entrances to the Secured Event Zone (at 2nd Street/Santa Monica Blvd, at 2nd Street/Broadway Ave, and Colorado Ave/Ocean Ave).  You will only be able to access the Secured Event Zone through one of these designated entrances.  All spectators are subject to search upon entering the Secured Event Zone.  It is strongly recommended that spectators opt not to bring bags to help maintain the efficient flow of spectators through the security checkpoints.

ARRIVE EARLY!  It is important to give yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk to the Finish Line due to the number of people coming into the area.  Click Here for complete Finish Line parking information.  The map below gives a view of City of Santa Monica-owned parking lots.  Click Here for real-time parking availability in the City of Santa Monica.

Location: Santa Monica Blvd between Ocean Ave and 2nd St.

The Family Reunion Area is located on Ocean Ave between Broadway Ave and Colorado Ave.  Make arrangements to meet your family at one of the letters of the alphabet along Ocean Ave.
