Thank you for participating in the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon! We are looking forward to a great event on March 9, 2014.
Our top priority is the safety of our runners, volunteers, spectators, and partners. We are working closely with public safety officials to create the best possible experience at the ASICS LA Marathon. It’s important that you and your fellow runners are well informed and that you plan accordingly for these safety enhancements in advance of race day.
My flight does not arrive in Los Angeles until after the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo closes and it will be impossible for me to pick up my Participant Packet in person. What should I do?
We understand that some unavoidable conflicts will occur; if that is the case, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to seek a resolution.
It is inconvenient for me to pick up my Participant Packet at the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo/I don’t want to pay for parking at the Expo/My friend or family member will be at the Expo and has offered to pick up my Participant Packet for me/Etc. Can you make an exception?
Except in circumstances where it would be impossible for a participant to pick up his or her own Participant Packet at the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo, exceptions to this policy will not be made.
I plan to run with a hydration pack or belt (e.g. CamelBak or Fuel Belt) or a fanny pack. Will this be allowed?
Yes. However, all bags will be subject to bag screening. Only event-issued clear plastic Participant Bags will be accepted at Gear Check.
What if I forget/lose my Participant Bag or it breaks/tears prior to race morning?
Replacement Participant Bags will be available for distribution outside the security checkpoints at Dodger Stadium on race morning.
I do not feel comfortable checking my cell phone, wallet, car keys, etc., in a clear plastic bag. What should I do?
We do not recommend that you check valuables at Gear Check. Please plan accordingly and make the necessary adjustments so that you do not have to check valuables. Exceptions to the Gear Check policy will not be made.
I have an early flight and will need to check my luggage at Gear Check. Will this be allowed?
No. Only event-issued clear plastic Participant Bags will be accepted at Gear Check. Exceptions to this policy will not be made. Please make arrangements with your hotel to check your luggage prior to the race.
Will there be long lines at the security checkpoints?
Event management will ensure that the security checkpoints are properly staffed and moving as efficiently as possible throughout race morning. We recommend that you arrive early on race morning. Dodger Stadium opens to vehicles at 3:00am PDT (Daylight Savings Time – Spring Forward – begins at 2:00am), and that you have the proper event-issued Gear Check bag to make the process go as smoothly as possible. If you opt not to check gear and are therefore not carrying a bag, you can access the Secured Event Zone at Dodger Stadium through designated express security lanes. The start of the race will not be delayed due to lines at security checkpoints.
I am taking a shuttle to Dodger Stadium. Will I have to go through the security checkpoints?
Yes. All shuttle locations (Santa Monica, Union Station, Beverly Hills, Downtown LA) will have security checkpoints prior to boarding. Only event-issued clear plastic Participant Bags will be accepted for Gear Check and any other type of bag will not be allowed on-board the shuttles. Do not bring other belongings to the shuttle pick-up locations.
Are spectators allowed in the Secured Event Zone at Dodger Stadium?
Yes, however spectators will need to enter through one of the designated security checkpoints and are subject to screening. Spectators should leave all belongings in their vehicles as only the event-issued clear plastic Participant Bags will be permitted in the Secured Event Zone.
What other items will not be permitted in the Secured Event Zone at Dodger Stadium?
All items deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate will be confiscated or denied access at the sole discretion of security personnel.
Where can my friend or family member watch me at the Finish Line in Santa Monica?
General spectators will be allowed on the east side of Ocean Ave north of Washington Ave. There will be no spectator access south of Washington Ave on either side of Ocean Ave.
Will my friend or family member who is not registered for the race be able to accompany me at the finish line?
No. As in years past, general spectators will not have access to the immediate finish line area on race day. Spectators will be able to meet runners at the Family Reunion Area on Ocean Ave between Santa Monica Blvd and Broadway Ave or the Finish Festival at the corner of 2nd Street/Santa Monica Blvd.
Will spectators be allowed access to Palisades Park?
No. New this year, spectators will not be allowed to walk south through Palisades Park toward the Family Reunion Area. Palisades Park south of Washington Ave and north of Santa Monica Blvd will be closed to spectators and non-credentialed public.
How can spectators access the Family Reunion Area?
New this year, the Family Reunion Area will be part of a Secured Event Zone in Santa Monica. Spectators can gain access to the Secured Event Zone by entering at one of three designated security checkpoints. Access to the Family Reunion Area is available at 2nd Street/Santa Monica Blvd, 2nd Street/Broadway Ave, and Colorado Ave/Ocean Ave. All spectators will be subject to search at the security checkpoints.
Will spectators be allowed to carry bags in the Secured Event Zone in Santa Monica?
Yes. However, all bags will be screened by security personnel. Spectator access to the Secured Event Zone in Santa Monica will begin at 9:00am. Spectators must access this area by entering through one of the three designated security checkpoints. Spectators are strongly discouraged from carrying bags in Santa Monica in order to maintain an efficient pedestrian flow into the Secured Event Zone.
