Security Updates

Please read the latest important updates for the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon.

Thank you for participating in the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon!  We are looking forward to a great event on March 9, 2014.

Our top priority is the safety of our runners, volunteers, spectators, and partners.  We are working closely with public safety officials to create the best possible experience at the ASICS LA Marathon.  It’s important that you and your fellow runners are well informed and that you plan accordingly for these safety enhancements in advance of race day.

PACKET PICK-UP

New this year, you must pick up your own Participant Packet (includes your race bib and timing chip) at the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center during regularly scheduled hours (Friday, March 7, 10:00am – 7:00pm, and Saturday March 8, 9:00am – 5:00pm).  We will no longer allow individuals to pick up Participant Packets on behalf of others.  We understand that some unavoidable conflicts will occur; if that is the case, please email packetpickup@lamarathon.com to seek a resolution.

GEAR CHECK

New this year, the only gear check bag that you will be permitted to bring inside the Secured Event Zone at Dodger Stadium on race day and to check at Gear Check will be the clear plastic event-issued Participant Bag that you will receive upon picking up your Participant Packet and participant t-shirt at the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo.  Backpacks, luggage, and other non-event-issued bags will not be accepted at Gear Check.  Hydration packs, fanny packs, and fuel belts will be allowed but are subject to search.  Note: Gear Check closes at 6:45am so plan accordingly.

SECURITY CHECKPOINTS & BAG SCREENING

For a map of the Start Line, Click Here.

Dodger Stadium – New this year, any participants parking or getting dropped off at Dodger Stadium must pass through security before entering the Secured Event Zone at Dodger Stadium. There will be three designated security and bag screening checkpoints located around the Secured Event Zone perimeter.  You will only be able to access the Start Line through one of these designated entrances.  All bags will be screened by security personnel.  All participants must use the clear plastic event-issued Participant Bag for carried gear.  Bringing the clear plastic event-issued bag with you will expedite the bag screening process and will help maintain an efficient flow of participants into the Secured Event Zone.  Participants who opt not to carry bags can access the Start Line through express security lanes.  Please arrive early to Dodger Stadium to account for the additional time it will take to pass through security.  Expect delays.  Dodger Stadium will open to vehicles at 3:00am.

Shuttles – New this year, any participants boarding a shuttle from Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Beverly Hills, or Union Station must pass through security before boarding the shuttle bus.  There will be designated security and bag screening checkpoints located at each shuttle stop.  You will only be able to board the shuttle bus after going through a security checkpoint.  All bags will be screened by security personnel.  All participants must use the clear plastic event-issued Participant Bag for carried gear.  Bringing the clear plastic event-issued bag with you will expedite the bag screening process and will help maintain an efficient flow of participants into the shuttles.  Please arrive early to your shuttle stop to account for the additional time it will take to pass through security.  Expect delays.

SPECTATOR ACCESS

Dodger Stadium – Spectators will still have access to Dodger Stadium and the Secured Event Zone.  Spectators must enter at one of the three security checkpoints.  Backpacks, luggage, and other non-event-issued bags will not be accepted at the security checkpoints.  Please leave any belongings in your vehicles prior to entering the security checkpoints.

Santa Monica –
Palisades Park: New this year, spectators will NOT be allowed access into Palisades Park south of Washington Ave and north of Santa Monica Blvd.  Any spectators wishing to meet up with runners must head south on 2nd St. to Santa Monica Blvd.  We recommend spectators meet up with runners in the Family Reunion Area on Ocean Ave between Santa Monica Blvd and Broadway Ave.

Secured Event Zone: Also new this year, a Secured Event Zone will be created on Ocean Ave from Santa Monica Blvd to Colorado St.  There will be three designated entrances to the Secured Event Zone (at 2nd Street/Santa Monica Blvd, at 2nd Street/Broadway Ave, and Colorado Ave/Ocean Ave).  You will only be able to access the Secured Event Zone through one of these designated entrances.  All spectators are subject to search upon entering the Secured Event Zone.  It is strongly recommended that spectators opt not to bring bags to help maintain the efficient flow of spectators through the security checkpoints.

If you have questions about these updates, please review our FAQ page or contact info@lamarathon.com.  Additional information will be communicated in the lead-up to the event.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in making the ASICS LA Marathon a safe event for everyone involved.
