Is the course the same as 2020 & 2021?

Yes, the half marathon and 5K course are the same as years past.

How does packet pickup work for in-person event?

We will have packet pick up on Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15. Visit the "Event Info" tab more more information.

Are there Awards for the 5K?

We will have top age group winners from the combined events of Friday and Saturday but unfortunately we will not have or send out physical awards this year.

Rose Bowl Half Marathon FAQs

When is the Rose Bowl Half Marathon?

The 2022 event is January 16, 2022. The 2023 event is January 15, 2023.

Where can I find a course map for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon?

The course map for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon will be posted shortly, we will be following the traditional route from previous years.

What do I need to bring to registration check in?

Your QR code (emailed to you on race week from Active.com) and photo ID will be needed to verify your bib pick-up.

How do I complete the Conquer LA Challenge?

To qualify for the 2022 Conquer LA Challenge medal you need to complete the:

• 2021 Santa Monica Classic (Live or Virtual)
• 2022 Rose Bowl Half Marathon
• 2022 Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS

If you are already registered for one of the qualifying races, you can register for the remaining races individually using the same email address. When you pick up your bib at the marathon expo, it should have a sticker that says Conquer LA Challenge. If it does not, please visit the Solutions booth at the expo to verify your eligibility. This ensures you will receive the medal at the marathon finish line.

What is included with the registration fee?

Included in the registration fee is your race entry, participant shirt and finisher medal.

When does race registration close?

Race registration is currently open and will be available online until the race reaches capacity.

When and where do I pick up my event race bib?

Packet pick-up will be January 14 and January 15. Please visit the "event info" tab for more information on bib pick up locations. All participants will need to pick up their own bib at packet pick up. There is no race day bib pick up.

If I plan to bring my children to walk the course, do they also need to register?

Yes, anyone participating in the Rose Bowl Half Marathon or 5K needs to be registered and have a race bib. Strollers are allowed for the 5K ONLY. Children in strollers do not need to register for the event but they will not be able to collect a medal at the Finish Line. The Rose Bowl Half will abide by AWD Rules and can be read here.

Where is the event?

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon will begin at the Rose Bowl. 2021 course map will be available shortly. Please keep checking back for updates.

What is the distance of the course?

The half marathon is 13.1 miles.

Are there awards?

Yes, age group awards will be distributed by mail after the event is over and results are made official.

We will reward the top three men and women for both the 5K and the half marathon in the following age groups:
Under 15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over

Are virtual runners eligible for awards?

Virtual runners are not eligible for awards.

Where do I wear my bib?

Bibs must be fastened to the front of your body on either your shirt or shorts/pants using the provided safety pins.

What do I do if I have an issue with my results?

If you are having trouble finding your results or your results are not posted, please reach out to results@spectrumtiming.com.

Where do I park on race day?

Parking information for the half marathon will be similar to the September 2021 event but details will be confirmed closer to the event. Please check back for updates.

Will the half marathon have pace leaders?

If at the time of the race social distancing regulations allow for Pace Leader involvement, every effort will be made to have them available for runners. Please check back for details.

Will there be food/drinks available on the course? At the finish line?

Details on food and beverage availability at the race will be confirmed in 2021 in line with local health and safety guidelines at the time. Please check back for updates.

Are skates, bikes, or pets allowed on the course?

No skates, bikes or pets are allowed on the course.

What is your refund policy?

We do not offer refunds. Scroll down to learn more about deferral or transfer to virtual option for the 2022 event only. For 2023 registrations there are no refunds, deferrals or transfers.

Virtual Participation FAQ

Do you have a virtual option?

Yes, we added a virtual option for those who would like to participate virtually. You have until January 31, 2022 to submit your time. Virtual packages will be mailed starting February 1, 2022. Please allow up to 4 weeks to ship. We do not mail to places outside the US.

Do Virtual registration count to Challenge medals?

Yes! the 2022 Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K virtual options both count to the 2022 Conquer LA and 2022 Triple 5K Tour of LA Challenge medals.

What is the deadline to complete my race virtually?

January 31, 2022. Submission is via the link in your confirmation email.

How will I receive my packet, if I run virtually?

Your packet will be mailed starting February 1, 2022. Please allow up to 4 weeks to receive it.

Can I transfer into/out of the Virtual or In-person?

Yes, you can transfer from in-person to Virtual or Virtual to in-person. The deadline to do so is Saturday, January 15, 2022. To transfer into the in-person event from the virtual you will be required to pay the difference in price from virtual to listed price of the in-person event on the day you registered.

Health & Safety Guidelines FAQ

What are your health & safety guidelines?

Health and safety are always a top priority. We will be implementing the following health and safety measures in alignment with the LA County and Pasadena Board of Health and the updated Mega Event Guidelines to ensure a safe race weekend experience for all runners, volunteers, staff, vendors, and spectators.
• All participants and spectators ages 5 and up must provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test and receive a verification band to participate.
• Stay home if you feel or are sick
• Masks must be worn at the start line. You may remove your mask upon crossing the start line.
• Masks are encouraged at all times when not participating on course
• Masks are required when using any indoor facilities of the Rose Bowl including but not limited to indoor bathrooms or access the Locker Rooms
• Hand sanitization stations will be available onsite
• Participants looking for additional room for social distancing should start in the back
• Spectators are encouraged to wear masks in crowded areas and space out wherever possible.

Do I need a vaccine to participate in the 2022 Rose Bowl Half, 5K, or Kids Run??

No, you do not need to be vaccinated.
Non-vaccinated persons will need to provide proof of negative COVID-19. Negative COVID-19 test means a printed document, email or text message displayed on a phone, from a test provider or laboratory that shows results of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or antigen test.
• PCR tests must be taken within 48-hours of the Event, no earlier than 7am on Friday, January 14
• Antigen test conducted within 24-hours of the event, no earlier than 7am on Saturday, January 15

The printed document, email or text message must include the person’s name, type of test performed, date of test, and negative result.
At home tests are not acceptable.
For anyone who does not have and needs a negative COVID-19 test, we will be offering rapid Rapid Antigen Test BinaxNOW testing at the Rose Bowl on Friday, January 14, Saturday, January 15, and Saturday January 16. This test will provide results in 15 minutes. A negative result will satisfy the testing requirements to pick-up your race bib. The cost is $95 (no insurance accepted).

What do I need to show proof of vaccine?

Acceptable proof of vaccination include:
o Vaccine Record Card or Health Record
o CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card
o World Health Organization (WHO) Vaccine Record Card
o Documentation of vaccination from the healthcare provider or entity that provided the COVID-19 vaccines
o California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) Vaccination Record
o Digital Vaccination Record issued by the California Department of Public Health or an approved company such as Healthvana or Carbon Health
Any individual age 18 or older must produce identification bearing the same identifying information as the proof of vaccination.

What do I need to show proof of negative COVID-19 Test?

Proof of negative COVID-19 test means a printed document, email or text message displayed on a phone, from a test provider or laboratory that shows results of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or antigen test.
• PCR tests must be taken within 48-hours of the Event, no earlier than 7am on Friday, January 14
• Antigen test conducted within 24-hours of the event, no earlier than 7am on Saturday, January 15

Do I need to wear a facial covering at the event?

Masks are required at the Start Line. Masks are recommended at all other times while not on the race course. Participants on course do not need to wear a mask.

Do participants on course need to wear a facial covering?

No, participants do not need to wear a mask once they cross the start line.

Where will I have my vaccine status or negative test checked?

• All participants (except for those who purchased Race Day VIP) must provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test to pick up their bib on Friday, January 14 or Saturday, January 15 at a designated locations.
• Participants who purchased Race Day VIP will be required to show proof of vaccination or negative test when picking up bib race morning.
• Spectators will be checked at Gate A by CSC security and will be given a wristband to enter the Rose Bowl.
• Kids ages 5 and up participating in the Kids Run and their parents must also provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test at bib pick up on Sunday before the race.
Participants and spectators over the age of 18 are required to show proof of Photo ID (which means an original or copy of an identification card including: Drivers license, government issued ID, school or work ID card, or passport) that matches the name on their bib and vaccine or testing record

If I have VIP Hospitality, where do I have my vaccine or negative test checked?

When you arrive at the Rose Bowl head to the VIP Hospitality tent to show proof of vaccination/negative test and pick up your bib to receive your verification band.

Do kids in the Kids Run need to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test?

Yes, all kids over the age of 2* must provide proof of vaccination or negative covid test. Parents of kids participating must also provide proof of vaccination or negative covid test. *The age was updated from 5+ to 2 and up due to align with local guidelines.

Do spectators need to show proof of vaccine or negative covid-19 test?

Yes, to enter the Rose Bowl they will need to show proof of vaccine or negative COVID-19 test. They will have this checked at point of entry at Gate A.
Negative COVID-19 tests must be a lab issued (at home test is not acceptable) and PCR no later than Friday, January 14 at 7am or Rapid Test no later than Saturday, January 15 at 7am.

I can’t get a test, then what?

For anyone who does not have and needs a negative COVID-19 test, we will be offering rapid Rapid Antigen Test BinaxNOWTM testing at the Rose Bowl on Friday, January 14, Saturday, January 15 and Saturday January 16. This test will provide results in 15 minutes. A negative result will satisfy the testing requirements to pick-up your race bib. The cost is $95 (no insurance accepted).

What happens if I test positive for COVID-19 before the event?

Participants who test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the event (on or after Monday, January 3, 2022) will have an opportunity to transfer their registration to virtual participation or defer to the 2023 Rose Bowl Half Marathon or 5K or Kids Run. There are no refunds. All requests must be submitted by Saturday, January 15. I don’t feel safe participating, what are my options?

Should you feel unsafe participating, you may transfer to the virtual option or defer to the 2023 Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K on January 15, 2023. If I transfer to the Virtual option, will I still qualify for Challenge medals?

Yes, virtual options still qualify for the Triple 5K Tour of LA and Conquer LA Challenge Medals. If you defer to a future year, you will not qualify for these in 2022.
